How to Print eBay Live Winner Labels Automatically
eBay Live auctions move fast — a lot every 30 to 60 seconds. Every time one ends you have to remember who won, write their username on a bag or sticky note, and keep the energy up for the next item. Miss one and you’re digging through Seller Hub after the show trying to match items to buyers.
What eBay Live gives you (and what it doesn’t)
When an eBay Live auction ends, eBay charges the winner automatically and creates an order. But eBay holds every eBay Live order in “Paid – wait to ship” for 8 hours after the show’s start, so all of a buyer’s wins combine into one shipment. Only then do the orders move to “Awaiting shipment”, where you buy postage in Seller Hub.
So during the show there’s nothing to print from eBay. Sellers end up handwriting names, or scribbling a list and sorting it all out later.
The fix: a label that prints the second the auction ends
Printly is a desktop app for Mac and Windows with eBay Live built in. You run your show from eBay Live Studio inside Printly, and the app watches your show’s auction results in real time. The moment an auction ends with a winner, it prints a label with:
- The winner’s eBay username — big and bold
- The item or lot title (e.g. “#051 - round 1”)
- The winning bid
- Your store logo
A simple eBay Live packing workflow
1. Keep one bin or bag per buyer. When a label prints, stick it on the item’s bag and drop it in that buyer’s pile.
2. After the show, wait for eBay’s combine window to close so each buyer’s wins become one order.
3. Buy postage per combined order in Seller Hub. Your piles are already sorted by username, so packing takes minutes instead of an hour.
Do I need a browser extension?
No. Printly is a standalone desktop app with eBay Live and Whatnot built in — there’s nothing to install in Chrome. If you sell on both platforms, switch tabs at the top of the app; both keep printing in the background.
What does it cost?
Printly is $24.99/month with a 7-day free trial — no credit card required to start. Unlimited labels, eBay Live and Whatnot included. More about the eBay Live label printer →
